Leading CPD in a school or trust isn’t easy. If you’re facing challenges such as:
Talking through some solutions with a friendly coach with expertise in professional development can make all the difference. Our conversations are guided by you – whether you’d like to check you’re on the right track with your plans, general support in your role, or receive suggestions for a way through a specific roadblock to success.
Anyone with a responsibility for planning, leading or delivering professional development within a team, school or trust.
You might have a role such as Assistant Headteacher, Headteacher, Head of Teaching and Learning, CPD Lead, Deputy Head, Trust CPD Lead, Director of Learning, Head of Key Stage, Head of Year, or Subject Lead.
Your coach will be a TDT Professional Learning Lead and has personal experience of education leadership as well as a deep knowledge of the research behind what makes effective professional development. You can find out more about them below.
Sessions are carried out online at a time that suits you. Our professional development coaches act as a “critical friend” and foster a supportive environment for open conversations without fear of judgement. Across your series of sessions, the focus will be guided by you and what you are grappling with in your role. Our coaches will support you in clearly identifying what your goal to address is, and discuss the ways forward. You will revisit progress against this goal over a series of sessions or select new ones to work on.
At the Teacher Development Trust, our understanding of high-quality CPD is structured around 7 Domains of Effective Professional Development – you may find it useful to familiarise yourself with these before your first session.
If you would value connecting with peers for small group learning and problem solving, you might consider our Building Expert Leaders Programme which gives you the opportunity to network with colleagues in a similar role.
If you’re considering embedding teacher coaching at your school as part of your CPD Programme, our Pedagogical Coaching Training for school staff can help to make it a success.
“It has reassured me that I’m on a good track. It was nice to be able to realise that what I’m doing is probably achievable, and that I’m going about it in the right way. It definitely made me more resilient.”
