What are some current or previous job/voluntary roles you would like to mention?

I’m an education technologist and product consultant working with a group of companies and charities that support schools. In my technology roles I have been head of product for. the European publisher Infinitas Learning, a director of TES Resources and a founder of TES Institute. Before that I was a journalist with roles including deputy editor of The Times Educational Supplement. I’m a former director of Edinburgh Business School and an advisor to the Dutch AI start-up MemoryLab.

What’s something you’re passionate about in terms of the work TDT do or the world of education generally?

I have been deeply struck by the research showing the most important factor in any school system is the quality of the teaching. And crucially it is the “teaching” not “teachers” – which means ensuring all educators get opportunities to improve.
