The internal knowledge and expertise of the staff team is one of the biggest resources for professional development that a school or setting has. Sharing this expertise is impactful not only for pupil outcomes but also staff satisfaction and efficacy, and the overall culture of an organisation.
This module will help you to recognise the principles and benefits of sharing expertise within teams of teachers, leaders, and support staff. You will also explore a number of approaches to creating a culture which encourages these activities. Throughout the module, you will reflect on how what you’ve learned applies to your school or setting and identify actionable next steps to continue your learning.
Does any of this sound familiar? If so, this module is for you.
This module would be useful for any education leader with a responsibility for professional development in their setting.
Those new to the role might begin by focusing on the principles of teacher collaboration and noting how these are applied in different case study schools. Those with more experience in this area may get more value from challenging their existing thinking through the interactive learning scenario, reflection questions, and seeing what other schools do.
This Online Learning Module Features:
Research shows that supportive professional environments have a positive impact on teacher growth and improvement, with teachers in supportive schools improving 38% more over 10 years than peers in a less supportive setting (Kraft & Papay, 2014).
Providing opportunities for peer collaboration to share expertise, discuss pedagogy and develop teaching practices is an important factor in creating a strong, supportive professional environment.
The whole module is designed to take around 90 minutes to complete, although this will depend on how long you choose to take on the interactive and downloadable elements.
This timing is designed to fit into a PPA slot. However, there is the functionality to save your progress at any time and return later, if you would rather complete the module at a different pace which suits you.
Towards the end of the module, you will be encouraged to reflect and plan your next actions to develop your practice in this area.
When you finish “Leveraging Internal Expertise and Knowledge Sharing”, you will be able to download your certificate of completion. You can also find this saved in your CPD Leadership Hub Profile. You will additionally be directed to more useful resources to continue to grow your understanding.
All Online Learning modules are intended for individual rather than cross-school or trust use. Any certificates of completion will be in the name of the Hub account holder.
