Culture and Wellbeing

School culture is key to almost anything you try to do in a school, yet it can also sometimes feel an intangible and elusive element to pinpoint. It is hard to measure and impossible to replicate from one school to another. A positive working environment and culture can bring great benefits to staff and student wellbeing, teacher retention, as well as student outcomes. Whether it is giving teachers the opportunity to contribute to whole-school decision making, encouraging the sharing of good practice or allowing time for the development of valued peer relationships, many elements make up the culture of a school. This section looks at some structures to support that.

Take a look at our CPD Quality Framework to see the criteria for developing and improving your school’s CPD provision.
