LessonNote: the iPad app to support Lesson Study in the classroom
LessonNote is an app designed to promote and support collaboration in the classroom. The design of the LessonNote app has been shaped by the accumulated knowledge of Japanese educators, based on over 100 years of using Lesson Study as an improvement tool for teaching and learning. The app enables participants to record detailed, factual and non-judgemental lesson observations – users can create a comprehensive seating chart, and track interactions between teacher and students, and between multiple students. It allows users to record student work, upload pictures of student work, log the length of segments of lessons, and note questions as they arise.
The app also allows users to collaborate once the lesson is over – practitioners can reflect on their notes together, contrast their observations and debrief and discuss the lesson in further detail.
You can learn more about the LessonNote app and how it is supporting deeper analysis of classroom practice and lessons here.
