7a – Processes are underpinned by evidence

Meaning – New ideas in the school have a strong evidence base behind them. Using research summaries and meta analyses to ensure that any ideas are likely to have a positive impact on pupils. When engaging with external courses and ideas, staff regularly questions ‘what is the evidence behind this?’

What might this look like in practice?

A school uses approaches that the Sutton Trust – EEF Toolkit indicates are likely to have a positive impact for pupil progress.

When any idea is introduced (either as a process, such as Lesson Study, or a strategy, such as questioning), the theory and research is described and explained.
