6b – Meaningful joint planning takes place

Meaning – Staff plan together regularly in a detailed way. When collaboratively planning, staff consider the impact on pupils and which pupils they expect to particularly benefit. Lesson plans are adapted and refined, as different approaches and strategies are evaluated.

What might this look like in practice?

Staff who teach the same year group in a primary school have their PPA time together. This time is used not only to plan overall medium or long term plans, but also to ensure that some lessons are collaboratively planned in detail. These plans are returned to, reflected upon and refined over time.
