4a – Staff collaborate through enquiry and formative assessment

Meaning – Staff work together regularly both informally and formally. This is not just for staff who are deemed to need extra support, all staff value the additional professional learning enabled by collaboration. Staff are not only supportive of one another, but are also comfortable in constructively criticising one another. For example, if an approach with a poor evidence base is being used, colleagues would question one another.

What would this mean in practice?

A rigorous coaching approach is used within a school. All staff have the opportunity to be coached, and it is felt to be a supportive and developmental approach that staff of all different levels of experience use.

The Culture and Wellbeing section of the Portal goes into more detail about setting up a culture around CPD. It includes further research, resources from TDT and from other schools.
