State-funded schools in England can access our fully government-funded NPQs (National Professional Qualifications) to help staff develop and to build internal capacity for improvement. In particular, our new NPQ in Leading Behaviour and Culture is fully scholarship funded for state-funded schools and the next study cohort begins in February 2022.

The new NPQs

NPQs have been given a complete overhaul with updated content and materials.

The NPQ in Leading Teaching

 This new government-backed qualification trains you to lead successful teacher progression and development at school.

  • Gain a prestigious, government-backed qualification and make progress in your career
  • Develop expertise and leadership in the art, craft and science of effective teaching, learning, curriculum and assessment
  • Learn flexibly around your job with a blend of online learning, virtual sessions and local face to face workshops
  • Ideal for those who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibility to lead teaching in a subject, year-group, key stage or phase.

The course covers all of the core content in the government’s Framework for this qualification and this is aligned with core themes around: effective communication, creating change, working with teams, managing yourself. Key areas include:

  • Understanding the new, Early Career Framework including effective teaching, how pupils learn and how to implement that within classrooms
  • Weaving together curriculum, assessment and adaptive teaching to lead coherent improvement 
  • Professionally developing others, creating change and supporting school culture

  • Current and aspiring subject leaders
  • Current and aspiring phase and key-stage leaders

Our courses are designed to fit around busy work schedules. Our NPQ in Leading Teaching comprises approximately 56 hours of study:

  • 30hrs online study: reading, watching, listening and engaging in reflection discussion with peers
  • three 4-hour in-person sessions organised in a variety of national locations by our network of local delivery partners
  • nine 1.5hr virtual sessions working with your local cohort of participants and your dedicated, expert facilitator
  • “This course will give me the opportunity to develop my knowledge and understanding of teaching, learning and curriculum design, while gaining a recognised qualification.”

Studying a TDT NPQ

Our courses are designed to fit around busy work schedules. Our NPQ in Leading Teaching comprises approximately 56 hours of study:

  • 30hrs online study: reading, watching, listening and engaging in reflection discussion with peers
  • three 4-hour in-person sessions organised in a variety of national locations by our network of local delivery partners
  • nine 1.5hr virtual sessions working with your local cohort of participants and your dedicated, expert facilitator

Funding

Our new NPQ in Leading Teaching is priced at £889 but this is fully covered by Department for Education scholarships for teachers in state funded schools. You can find out more about DfE scholarships here.
